For ITALIANSPED, oversize loads are dealt with on a daily basis... but sometimes something unexpected happens that demands you quickly identify alternative strategies.
For example, we needed to ship a very high tonnage press to a French company. However, the unexpected application of restrictions on oversized vehicles ruled out overland transport as we’d initially planned.
So ITALIANSPED promptly organized a multi-mode transport alternative. This involved the use of a dedicated ship which sailed from Ravenna to the port of Fos-sur-Mer where it was transferred onto a river barge. We also rented all the equipment needed to load the press onto a truck for the last leg of the journey and then unload it at the final destination, the customer's warehouse. So, a shipment that first appeared much like any other soon turned out to be something much more challenging, but was nevertheless completed successfully and on time!
